What I do

West Virginia and Beyond

Teach

After graduating from West Virginia University in music education, John has over 10 years of experience instructing both privately and in public education. He is licensed to teach music and special education in WV and VA. Triad Music is an approved Hope Scholarship Vendor.

Perform

A well-rounded commercial player, John studied trombone and double bass at West Virginia University. He spent several years sharpening his chops on cruise ships before regular gigging in the tri-state area. Classical, jazz, bluegrass, Americana, or anything in between.

Record | Live Sound

Owning equipment for a medium sized venue, John has run sound for diverse bands, festivals, and all day events. John also offers recording services with custom build microphones as well as equipment repair.

Who I work with

Kate Macleod

Kate Macleod is a wonderful singer/songwriter and a better person. I had the honor to be part of her latest project: The Jean Richie Experience.

Take a listen to her latest single Wintergrace.

Find out more about Kate at https://www.katemacleod.com

Hoppin’ John

The name Hoppin’ John (a Southern country dish) reflects the band’s eclectic Americana repertoire. The band was born out of house jams during the “lost” year, 2020. The band is currently lookin’ for bookin’.

Ryan Brandenburg

Ryan is a very talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. I had the pleasure to collaborate on his first all-original album Feels Like Morning. Take a listen:

High Street Jazz Band

Now defunct, the High Street Jazz Band was the first band I had the pleasure of being part of. Full of all the antics and idealism of collegiate life, the band performed not just for the drunken reveler on Friday nights, but toured too, bringing music to elementary schools across the Mountain State.

Welsh Sound

I interned with Welsh Sound in 2020 and learned a great deal about the production side of music. Out of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, Welsh Sound can accommodate any size production from a house party to a festival, solo act to an orchestra.

Where I’ve been

From an early age, I’ve always been passionate about music. At West Virginia University, I deepened my understanding through studying pedagogy, conducting, composing, jazz, orchestra, voice, recording, and so much more.

Post college, I have played professionally on cruise ships and recorded with very talented local musicians. I have taught elementary special education and music education, grades Pre K – 5th.

In 2025, I became Hope Scholarship approved. I am excited to build a private studio and look forward to working with you.
